Docs — runbook
Show-night runbook
The pre-doors checklist, in order. Every step has a fallback, so nothing that goes wrong at T-5 is a surprise.
T-60 MIN
Rig
- Mac on power (not battery), lid open, sleep disabled.
- Your own Wi-Fi (travel router) or the venue's production network — never the guest Wi-Fi.
- Output display connected. Open
→
DETACH
→ pick the display → ⌃⌘F fullscreen. - Test pattern on. Walk to the back of the room, check the picture sits right on the wall. Pattern off.
T-30 MIN
Cameras
- Pair every phone; name each one so the rows read like the stage — "Stage L", "Drums".
- Phones: full battery or power banks, auto-lock off, camera app on screen. Every row shows Live.
- Keep the show's Wi-Fi to yourselves — nobody streams video on it during the set.
T-15 MIN
Program
- Load your template, or build the look for tonight.
- Using Auto Smart Mode? Turn on Live Audio and check the status dot pulses with the room and the BPM looks sane.
- Arm recordings if you want them — any camera, or the main output.
T-5 MIN
Safety drill
- Click BLACKOUT on, off. Click FREEZE on, off. Know where they are without looking.
- Using an external controller? Test its panic button — the picture should come back clean.
SHOWTIME
During the show
- A camera drops → its row says what happened and what to do. Cutting to another camera is one tap on its row.
- The output display dies → the picture falls back to the Mac's own screen; move it back once the wall is alive again.
- Everything wrong at once → BLACKOUT, breathe, fix, release.
AFTER
Pack-down
- Stop recordings and check the Recordings card before packing — a recording that hit a problem is flagged, not silently lost.
- Anything behaved oddly? Help → Copy Diagnostics into your show notes while it's fresh.
